How To Personalise The Expedition Cup Set

How To Personalise The Expedition Cup Set

If you're ordering a set of cups for yourself, or buying them as a gift, our engraving service is the perfect way to make them truly unique.

Whether you want to add family names, or lyrics from your favourite song you can now use the website to add the text you'd like engraved, choose a font, and see how it will look on the cups when we engrave them.

Here we'll run you through a step by step guide to adding engraving on your cups (the process is slightly different depending on whether you're browsing on a mobile or desktop device, so we'll take you through both).

On Mobile

Start by choosing which colour oilskin bag you'd like, and whether you want a 4 or 5-cup stack.

Then below the 'Add to Bag' button you'll see the 'Add Engraving' button - click this

You'll now see the engraving text box open up. You can enter whatever text you like in here, and at the top you'll need to choose which font you'd like the engraving to be done in.

You can up to ~100 characters (including spaces), spread over three lines. As you add more text you'll notice that the text gets smaller. You can also start a new line by hitting the return key.

If you scroll back up to the images you'll now see a live preview of the engraving showing how the text will look when you receive the cups.

Once you're happy with the engraving you've chosen click on the 'Add to Bag' button underneath the engraving text area and you'll see that two items are added to your cart.

If you click on the cart button you'll see in there the cup set, with your chosen font and text, plus the Cup Engraving product (which adds the £10 cost to your cart).

From here you can checkout as normal, or if you want to add any order notes you can do that before going to checkout.

On Desktop

If you're adding engraving on desktop start by choosing which colour bag you'd like, and how many cups.

Then click on the 'Add Engraving' button to open up the engraving preview window

Here you can choose the font you'd like, add the text you want on each cup, and preview how it will look on the cups.

You can add up to ~100 characters (including spaces), spread over three lines. As you add more text you'll notice that the text gets smaller. You can also start a new line by hitting the return key.

When you're happy with the engraving then you can click on the 'Add to Bag' button.

You'll now see two items in your cart - the cups with the details of the engraving you've chosen, and the cup engraving charge.

If you want to add any order notes (e.g. if they're a gift and you'd like to include a gift message) then you can do that here using the 'Add Order Notes' field. Then you can complete checkout as usual.

Tips for Perfect Personalisation

1. CAPS FTW! While an email written in all caps comes across as a bit shouty, when you're engraving (especially names) it tends to look better as it keeps the letter heights consistent.

2. Balance out the length of text - if you have one cup with a very long text, and one with a very short text they'll come out different sizes. This shouldn't be a problem for most names, but you might have an issue if you're doing lyrics or lines from a poem.

There's a few ways to get round this - you can add spaces to your shorter text to make it 'longer' - just use the space bar to do this, or if you still need some help drop us a message and we can do something bespoke for you.

3. Be creative - if your cups are going to be used with lots of different people then personalisation is the perfect way to make sure everyone knows which cup is theirs. You could use anything from the names of your favourite Lake District fells to the Scottish islands you've visited - perfect for giving everyone a drink and starting a conversation.

4. A Picture is Worth 1000 Words - If you have an image or logo (or family crest) that you'd like engraved onto the cups then we can definitely help with that. Just drop us a message using the contact link at the bottom of the page and we can talk you through what options we have.
